Other than Christmas, perhaps no holiday proves a better with film than Halloween. Be it a movie about Halloween or the popular genre of scary horror films, the following films are a perfect choice for fright night.
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Initially appearing in 1966, this kids' classic has been a staple of Halloween for American children for more than 4 decades. As Linus awaits The Great Pumpkin, his good friend Charlie Brown famously gets rocks in his trick-or-treat bag.
Halloween. One of the scariest films ever made, "Halloween" first caused shrieks in 1978 and has spawned numerous sequels and screams ever since. Escaping from a mental institution in 1978, the crazed Michael Myers wastes little time terrorizing his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, including a young Jamie Lee Curtis, in one of her earliest and most recognizable roles.
The Amityville Horror. Based on a true story, this 1979 classic focuses on a pair of young newlyweds and their children who move into their Long Island dream house, only to discover they've made a terrible choice. Starring James Brolin and "Superman" vixen Margot Kidder, "The Amityville Horror" is sure to scare the living daylights out of horror fans young and old.
Carrie. Another film from what many consider the Golden Age of horror films, this 1976 classic based on the Stephen King bestseller finds young Carrie White ridiculed by classmates, who soon find out they don't know who they're messing with. A horror classic, "Carrie" also boasts one of the most memorable scenes in film history when Carrie, played masterfully by Sissy Spacek, attends her senior prom.
A Nightmare on Elm Street. Producing a 1980s icon and one of horror's most famous characters, "A Nightmare on Elm Street" introduced the world to Freddy Krueger, a terrorizing character who manages to infiltrate the nightmares of his victims, each of whom is a child of the people who played a part in killing the actual Freddy Krueger years before. Eventually spawning six sequels, the original is considered by many horror afficionados to be famed writer and director Wes Craven's masterpiece.
The Exorcist. Destined to scare viewers even today, nearly 40 years after its release, "The Exorcist" features screen legends Ellen Burstyn and Max von Sydow, who somehow manage to have the show stolen from them by a then 14-year-old Linda Blair, who plays a young girl obsesses by an evil spirit. Adding to the film's status as a legend of horror is a series of mysterious happenings that apparently occured during the film's production.

Throwing a kids Halloween party is a piece of cake if you keep things simple and fun. When it comes to entertaining kids, you don't have to go overboard with decorations in order to capture the Halloween spirit. A basic theme, some Halloween crafts and great food are all that you need to make a Halloween party to remember.
Choosing A Halloween Party Theme
Since Halloween has many characters, colors and imagery associated with it, you don't have to try to find a specific theme for your kids Halloween party. The best way to keep your party simple is to focus on one aspect of Halloween. You can have a fall harvest-themed party and use scarecrows, pumpkins and crows in your decorations. You can have a witchy party with broomsticks, black cats and bubbling cauldrons displayed. You can also just pick your favorite items from the party store that will get your guests in the spirit without scaring little children.
Party Activities And Crafts
In addition to your theme, you'll also need to plan your activities. The ages of the children at your party will determine what kinds of games and crafts you can do. Preschool age children normally have the attention span for one craft and one game.
With older children, you can get away with doing more. If you're going to do more than one craft, consider having different craft stations. You can set up all of the supplies for the Halloween crafts at a table and then have your guests rotate through the craft stations. Try to keep the crafts simple, but link them to your theme. For example, you can have the kids decorate small pumpkins with foam stickers or create monster puppets with brown lunch bags. Small children will enjoy a Play Doh station and a coloring station.

Keep your little guests occupied, entertained and happy with seasonal games. You can prepare one to three group games as part of the party. Make sure to have small gifts for the winners of the games. Try out a variation on a classic game, like pin the tail on the black cat. Hold a relay race to see which team can wrap one of their teammates up like a mummy. Of course, bobbing for apples is always a good game to have at a Halloween party.

Punch a hole in one corner of a card-style invitation and attach it to one of our school themed personalized party supplies with curling ribbon.
Seal your back-to-school party envelopes with a personalized sticker printed with the party details or a fun birthday message.
Print your party details on colored paper and glue it to one side of a flash card. On the other side, write an equation in large print, i.e. 4 + 4 = 8.
Design each invitation to resemble a report card. Include fun subjects and grades, like "Having Fun A+", "Being a Great Friend A+", "Soaking Up Summer Sun A+", Being Excited About School B", "Attending [child's name]'s Party - ?" Write your party details underneath the grades.
